Found some old songs. Including the first Duster song ever.

Payote (1.96MB mp3)
From 1996? The first Duster song, and the opening track of 'On the Dodge'. Plenty of tape hiss, two guitars and drums. Recorded on a cassette four track (probably over a copy of "Thriller").

Darby (2.08MB mp3)
From 1996? It was on 'On the Dodge', later it became 'Gold Dust'. Two acoustic guitars, drums, one noisy guitar getting headphone-feedback treatment. Recorded on cassette four track.

Meow Meow excerpt (1.05MB mp3)
From 'On the Dodge', i don't remember the real title. Keyboard, drums, guitars. Recorded on cassette four track inside the van we were living in.

Untitled (2.87MB mp3)
All dove, probably around 2000. Unreleased. I'm not sure if this is on cassette four track (sounds like it) or quarter inch eight track.

Untitled (3.88MB mp3)
More dove, around the same time. Unreleased. Recorded on a quarter inch eight track.

Diamond (2.58MB mp3)
The four track version, when we were working on songs for 'Contemporary Movement'. Recorded on cassette four track, when we got a little better with that format.

This song is not finished, but it's still damn good (5:02 minutes, 5.8MB mp3). You better save it because it will be removed soon.

Found an old two song CD called "Duster Testphase", a couple four-tracked ideas from quite a while back. Probably from right after we recorded "1975". Listen to this one (43 second excerpt, 843KB mp3).

Jason went to Seattle, helping Ross move up there. Ross was covering bass duties, at least at the one show we played earlier this year, but now the distance makes future shows more difficult: 40% of the current Duster lineup now lives in Seattle.

Dove moved back to Seattle. He worked on some songs before he left, like this one (1 minute excerpt, 1.5MB mp3). Thanks to the static cult for some website space. They launched their site last night, check it out and hire the cult to design for you.

Added some photographs from the studio (at our house). also, for a little while, here's a movie of the ampex mm1100, you can hear dove working on something (MPEG file, about 300K, low quality).

Added some photographs from the show last week (Quasi, Duster, Violent Green @ Chop Suey, Seattle).

We were going to leave for Seattle on Wednesday night. On Monday, the van got towed from in front of our house. We finally got it back and hit the road. A very long drive for just one show, but it's always good to get out of town, and it was good to play a show. Seattle was good, but mexican food in Seattle sucks. Awesome: Pete, Chris, everyone else at Up, Frank, and people that came all the way from California to see some duster. Violent Green and Quasi rocked that shit. This is a dumb update.

Here's a rough four track version of a song in progress: 3.27MB mp3.

No luck finding a show in Portland, Oregon. Someone offered a basement show, sort of, but said that they didn't want people there and it had to end early and things. We can play early in a basement for no people in our own town.

Duster is looking for a show in Portland, Oregon on Saturday, February 28. Help out.

February 11, 2004
Duster's current lineup is Dove, Jason, Clay, Krag and Ross; playing guitar, drums, guitar, guitar and bass respectively. That's right, three guitars.

February 10, 2004
It's official: Quasi, Duster and Violent Green will play the final night of the Up Records' 10th Anniversary extravaganza / benefit for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of America at Chop Suey in Seattle. Tickets are available at Ticketswest.

We're supposed to be recording a new record. We aren't doing that quite yet.

Duster is back together after a long (4+ year?) separation. Dove, Jason and Clay are all in San Jose, California. They will record a final record for Up Records, tentatively scheduled for release later this year. Recording will be done at Low Earth Orbit, like all previous releases.
